# Spacing Between Bar Stool Seating

The spacing between barstools and other seating at a table or bar is critical for maximum comfort.  Knowing the optimal spacing also allows you to understand how many stools can be placed at a bar or counter top.   Ideally, 28 inches between the centers of each stool should be used as a guideline.   Depending on the bar seat style and width of the stool, as few as 26 inches or as much as 30 inches can be used to place stools and calculate the number of stools that can be used.
